Deaf Link, Inc. Produces "How-To" Video on HeaterMeals 2/15/09 - A San Antonio company has completed a video about HeaterMeals. Deaf Link, Inc. provides Video Remote Interpreting, and Pre-Recorded Interpreting services for companies who need to communicate with the hearing impaired. They have begun working with businesses under the Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) to provide more effective communication with the 2 million disabled citizens in Texas. AHAS was an Executive Order signed by President Bush in 2004. It mandated inclusion of persons with disabilities into emergency preparedness. The State of Texas Division of Emergency Management, through a partnership with Deaf Link, Inc.®, has posted videos presented in American Sign Language (ASL) with an accompanying voice-over on a number of hurricane planning topics. These topics include evacuation planning, emergency supplies, the 2-1-1 registry for special needs, and preparing your home before the storm. Text versions also are available for download. For more information, click here. In an effort to better inform the community, Deaf Link, Inc. worked with the Northeast Texas Public Health District to compile “18 Emergency Preparedness Topics” and formatted the information at http://www.accessibleemergencyinfo.com to be friendly to deaf, blind, and limited sight populations. The Deaf link, Inc. “18 Emergency Preparedness Topics” ASL videos can be accessed at here. Because HeaterMeals are widely distributed in the State of Texas during times of disaster, Deaf Link, Inc. found it necessary to make sure persons with hearing impairments would know how to use our patented self-heating technology and heat the entrees. As a result, they produced the two-and-a-half minute video with an American Sign Language interpreter explaining the process of preparing HeaterMeals Entrees. |
